Sermon 10-17-10 "Grace"

Language is incredibly formative. Words not only say things; they do things. Paul’s letter to the Romans (written around 55 AD) is a like a theological dictionary. He employs words that became Christian classics – grace, faith, justification, righteousness, etc. Such vocabulary has become dull, so let’s reclaim the shine. We believe that God's word is performative. That means, that it actively does something to us. We devote ourselves to righteous words this fall - the classic, powerful vocabulary of the Christian faith. What will these words do to us? Let's find out.
