Sermon 03-06-11 "Facing the Wind"

Today we listen to Habakkuk. Habakkuk was probably written about 640-615 BC just before the fall of Assyria and the rise of Babylon. God used Assyria to punish Israel; now he would use Babylon to punish Judah. The theme question of Habakkuk is, how can God use a wicked nation such as Babylon for his divine purpose? Though God’s ways are sometimes mysterious, a central verse to the prophesy is 2:4, “the righteous shall live by his faith.”
