Sermon 04-29-12 :: The First

Countercultural Christianity:
Consume > Contribute

Easter creates a new way of life. The empty tomb creates a new people with a new set of values, concerns, habits, and hope.  Such a life often proves countercultural to the systems in which we live and work.  The habits of the new life often appear strange to the norms of our society.  Today we tackle finances.  Do you consume?  Contribute?  Is your approach to finances God-pleasing?

"There are three conversions necessary: the conversion of heart, mind, and the purse." - Martin Luther

“Economy is half the battle of life; it is not so hard to earn money as to spend it well.” - Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Prosperity knits a man to the World. He feels that he is "finding his place in it," while really it is finding its place in him.” - C.S. Lewis
