Sermon 07.22.12 :: Oh, for Some Rest and Quiet
Summer is a time for vacations and get-aways. Human beings inherently need times of rest. We spend a couple weeks this summer studying the nature of biblical Sabbath, and how we might go about living it. Often times it seems we either get bored or feel guilty when we rest. It feels like we have to be doing something. The third commandment appears increasingly radical in our frantic society.
"We need worship deep enough to change us, strong enough to kill our self-absorption, awe-full enough to shatter the little boxes into which we try to fit God, and thorough enough to address the world's needs because God is already at work to meet them." Marva Dawn
